Being prosperous is a funny thing.  There seems to me no obvious rhyme or reason on becoming prosperous; because if there were, I like to think I would of caught on a long time ago; or for that matter - the whole wide world would be getting on better as well.

So what is prosperity to you? 

To me, it is the freedom to not only to get what you need when you need it (food, clothing, medical needs, shelter, transportation, work-that-makes-you-happy); but with a bit of work and focus, prosperity is also getting what you want when you want it (entertainment, vacation, travel, luxury-if-you-choose).

Am I prosperous now?  Yes Absolutely.  But the funny thing is; I would not expect myself in these so called hard times to be prosperous.

With banks closing, unemployment at a staggering high level, small business suffering and bankrupting; how is it that I am prosperous today?

I ask this because; four years ago; when everyone was fat with inflated and even false profits, living high on the hog and it was so much easier to make ends meet; I was struggling miserably.  I even had an excellent job and position working for a construction company at the height of this last real estate ‘boon’ (so you’d think I’d get my hands on some profits there at that time), but none-the-less I was so far from prosperity, if not for my daughter, to be honest; I would have been lost to this world (my daughter kept me focused on the tasks at hand).

I was depressed, unhealthy, lonely, and I felt caged.  While the job was a good job; I hated it! I could not stand where I lived and my friends were nil.  ugh… Not prosperous!

So my point here is?

From my experience I can say,  it is possible for you to be prosperous no matter what is going on in the world and in this so called collective-consciousness-thought of a poor economy.

See today, I love where I live (NOTE: I was pushed out of my old home by a harassing landlord.), I love my ‘work’, I am able to travel and I am able to enjoy luxuries.  Mind you, I still have goals, and still have a long way to go; but I am truly happy and independent; and for that I am grateful to consider myself prosperous.

So what’s different for me today?  How can I move into a new-to-me home, travel back home to Canada and explore California on a regular basis and even stay self-employed while the world is reeling from economic madness?

It’s all how I look at things.  Yes, very sorry, it is that simple.

I think more positive now, I meditate, I focus on my goals. I don’t allow negative thinking - meaning I don’t think about what I don’t want.  I only hold images of what I want.  I don’t worry - if I worry I don’t have faith do I?  And no matter what spiritual path you follow; faith is always key.

And let me point this out FOUR YEARS AGO I WAS A NERVOUS WRECK!  Me not worry? HA!

I had to FAKE IT TILL I MADE IT!

I had to pretend I was happy, pretend I was going to a job I loved, and I even had to pretend to be BRAVE.

Because, when push comes to shove (and usually it does with change… think pushy landlord), you will have to be brave to quit that job, find that new home, or talk to that person you have been crushing on.

Life is yours - don’t let it come to you… project your positive thoughts and move forward in that light.
