Avoid Work-At-Home-Burn-out! Go to the office!
The other day I was at the library and saw a few people working on their laptops. I asked the librarian how they are able to be online. She replied that the library had an open wireless network.
I asked how much to use it? She said free.
Brilliant! I have been experiencing work-at-home-burn-out and bothered by my lack of motivation, and I figured that by getting out of the house and possibly working at the library I might get myself out of this rut. Since my business is Internet Based; this is ideal!
So today - right now… I am sitting at a desk, with a beautiful view of a golf course in Rancho Mirage, CA. I am hooked into free internet, I have my Rhapody music service streaming through my head set, and I am inspired!
I love my new office. The air-conditioning is free (The desert here can get as hot as 120 degrees in the summer months!), I don’t pay for the electric, and it is very quiet. When I feel like a break there is a nice cafe here that I can grab a tea.
I think it is important to get into a routine when you work at home. You need to find tricks to motivate yourself to work. I often find my garden, or the pool causes me to become distracted. Also, the chores waiting to get done often pull at my attention causing distractions.
I figure 9 hours a week (3 days @ 3 hours) at the library I will acomplish more then I would 9 hours at home. Focus is key and to do that you need to minimize distractions. In this way I also feel that the library is a better choice over a busy coffee shop. But possibly you don’t mind that hussle, find what works!
Ok well… I need to get back to work!
Have a great day!
